Outreach Services provides library services to our community’s preschools, elementary schools, community centers, senior centers, neighborhoods and events. Our amazing Outreach team offers community storytimes, senior programs and other enriching events and activities around the community.
The Bookmobile and Library Express Van are part of our Outreach Services efforts designed to reach district residents without convenient access or who cannot get to our library.
The Bookmobile is a full-service mobile branch of our library. In 2021, we welcomed the arrival of our new Bookmobile. This vehicle replaced our original Bookmobile, which had been part of the Fountaindale family since 2003. Our new Bookmobile provides scheduled stops around the community that are open to the public. It also visits Bolingbrook schools, senior facilities and community events.
You’re welcome to come aboard the Bookmobile to browse and check out bestsellers, magazines, audiobooks, CDs, Playaways, DVDs and video games for children, teens and adults. You can also apply for a library card and request to pick up your holds on the Bookmobile. In addition to a robust collection of popular materials, our new Bookmobile boasts bench seats, Wi-Fi, a wheelchair lift and a 75-inch TV under a 20-foot awning on the exterior.
Our Outreach staff and Bookmobile participate in many community events throughout the year. We offer enriching events and activities at neighborhood parks and centers around the community.
In September 2017, we added a second vehicle to serve our community better. The Library Express Van visits local senior facilities and provides library services to all Bolingbrook middle schools and several area preschools. Unlike the Bookmobile, visitors do not come aboard the Library Express Van; our Outreach staff comes to you. The van has carts to roll into facilities or schools for visitors to check out materials.
Our friendly Outreach staff also uses the Library Express Van to pick up materials from off-site book drops and deliver materials to patrons receiving Home Delivery Service.
Discover the variety of services we offer teachers and students in our community. Request materials for use in your classroom, reach out to set up school partnerships opportunities, use our Ellison Die cutter and more.
We’re dedicated to providing materials and resources for patrons of all ages and needs. We offer large print materials, audiobooks and Playaways with accessibility options in our building and on the Bookmobile. Our 2nd Floor Computer Commons has a low-vision machine used to enlarge the print of regular-sized books and documents. Closed-captioned DVDs are also available by request.
A wealth of library materials is as close to you as your front door or mailbox! Home Delivery Service provides library materials to patrons of all ages who cannot visit the library or Bookmobile and are confined to their residences either temporarily due to illness or accident or permanently due to illness, disability or other mobility issues. Upon request, we can also help you select materials and help you locate information on a specific topic.
Bookmobile and Library Express Van stops may be canceled without prior notice in the event of severe weather or mechanical difficulties. Please contact Outreach Services at 630.685.4230 for questions related to services.
