Anyone who knows Miss Kathy in Children’s Services knows that one of her favorite things is watching Hallmark Christmas movies. One of the first ones ever produced is called The Christmas Card (2006), which was filmed in Nevada City, California.
Movie Synopsis: The story of Cody Cullen (John Newton), a career soldier who is deeply touched by an anonymous holiday card he receives while serving in Afghanistan. When he returns to the United States, he treks to the picturesque California town of Nevada City, from which the card originated.
Well, it turns out the picturesque California town plays host to fans each December with a Victorian Christmas Celebration. Miss Kathy had the pleasure of traveling there with her daughters in 2014, where they recreated movie scenes, ate their signature dish at the cafe, worshiped in the local church (a big part of the movie) and even visited the Yuba River overpass where the final, emotional scene in the movie took place. It was so much fun, they’re are going again this year. YAY!!!
Want to watch The Christmas Card for yourself? Borrow it on DVD or watch it on The Hallmark Channel on Friday, December 13 at 6 p.m. or Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m.
