Bolingbrook middle school students (grades 6–8), read to earn books for your school media center and classroom and prizes for yourself by joining the Great Reading Race from September 23 through October 28!
Registration
Valley View middle school students have been pre-registered for this year’s program. If you can’t log in, please ask your language arts teacher or LMC director for help.
What Reading Counts?
- Any reading!
- Books, audiobooks, graphic novels, eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Independent reading at home and school
- Classroom read-alouds or stories read as a class
- Every minute you log is equal to one point
Prizes
- Earn vouchers for free items from our sponsors for every 200 minutes you log.
- Earn a free paperback book when you reach 1,000 minutes.
- Prizes will be available from September 23 to November 18, while supplies last. You can redeem your prize in the Vortex or at scheduled school visits.
Grand Prizes
- Grand prizes: a $50 Target gift card and a Fountaindale tote bag filled with books.
- Use your points to buy virtual tickets for the grand prize drawings. Each ticket costs 100 points, and you can buy up to 10 tickets.
- We will randomly select one winner for each prize at each school. All tickets must be purchased by Monday, October 28, to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing.
- You are responsible for buying grand prize tickets with your points. Unspent points will not automatically be applied to tickets. If you need to change your prize selection, contact our staff at 630.685.4199 or fountaindaleteen@fountaindale.org.
School Incentives
- Each middle school in Bolingbrook will set its own goal, and students will read cooperatively to reach the goal.
- Each school that meets that goal will receive a collection of 25 books for their school’s Library Media Center.
Classroom Incentives
- Students who read 100 minutes will be entered to win a $200 gift card for a classroom party and a set of 10 books for their classroom library.
- Students can increase their odds of winning for every 100 minutes they read.
