Introduced in the 1930s by Eastman Kodak, the early 8mm portable camera was revolutionary by allowing anyone the ability to capture one’s spectrum of life via a handheld, portable film device.

Perhaps you’ve seen an ‘old time’ looking camera or spools of film at your parents/grandparents/loved one’s home and thought, “What are these?” And, “What do I do with them?”

First, count yourself lucky! Those film spools probably hold documented memories like birthday parties, vacations, first car or the birth of a baby, and while they don’t have any audio, the love and pride simply emanate through the (somewhat) grainy film, offering the viewer a glimpse of how the generations before us celebrated those small and big moments.

Digitize Your Nostalgia in Studio 300

Studio 300 is thrilled to offer a service to unlock those precious memories by offering its patrons the Retro 8 Professional film transfer device. Turn your super 8mm and regular 8mm film spools into digitized files that can be downloaded and shared with anyone!

Simply bring your library card (no orientation or appointment is required) and flash/thumb drive to the Studio, and we will be happy to assist you in starting your unique film journey. Please note that your presence is required for the duration of the digitizing process.

We have a handy step-by-step guide detailing how to set up the Retro 8 machine, and Studio Specialists are on hand to assist you with any questions you may have.
