I’ve been browsing our shelves and digital collection to discover exciting movies and TV shows to share with you. I recently watched City so Real, the 2020 documentary from Academy Award nominated filmmaker Steve James. The film follows the entire Chicago mayoral election from the early days following Rahm Emanuel’s resignation, through the protests over the police officer shooting that killed 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, to Lori Lightfoot’s victory and to the Black Lives Matter protests and Coronavirus pandemic unfolding in the present.
Watch my review, and then check out City So Real on DVD.
