Do you need volunteer hours for school, or maybe you’re looking for a fun way to give back to your community? Here at Fountaindale, we have plenty of ways for teens from grades 6 to 12 to volunteer. The first place you can always go to find our volunteer opportunities is the teen volunteering page on our website. From here, you will find our two main types of volunteer opportunities: in-person and virtual book recommendations.

Teen Volunteering Opportunities at Fountaindale

In Person Volunteering

We have many in-person opportunities coming up soon. Volunteering with us is always fun. Depending on what you sign up for, you will either assist with a children’s program, hang out in the Vortex and help our staff or volunteer to help with a big event. Our in-person volunteering is quite popular and often fills up fast. Registration opens three weeks before the event so check our events calendar to sign up.

Book Recommendations

Prefer to stay home and read? Don’t worry, we understand so we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you too. Teens can submit book recommendations to earn service hours. All you have to do is tell us about a book that you read and why you liked it. Teens can submit four recommendations a month to earn four service hours. Please read the submission guidelines before submitting.

Teen Volunteer Day

Monday, January 20
Join us for a day of volunteering opportunities so you can give back to your community. You may only volunteer for a maximum of three hours.

Teen Volunteering Opportunities at FountaindaleCards for Hospitalized Kids
11 a.m.–8 p.m. (Vortex)
Create handmade cards and send encouragement to kids in need. All cards will be sent to Cards for Hospitalized Kids (CFHK) to brighten someone’s day. This is a drop-in event, so you do not need to sign up in advance. You can spend as much or as little time as you want making cards.

Reading & Math Buddies
10:45 a.m–noon (Vortex & Children’s World Park)
Spend an hour reading or listening to stories and playing math games with kids in the Children’s Department.

Spy School: Operation Library
1:35 p.m.–3:45 p.m (Vortex & Children’s Services Desk)
Assist with program setup and cleanup, supervise children at activity stations and hand out prizes.

Food Donation Drive
10 a.m.–noon, 2–4 p.m. or 6–8 p.m. (Vortex & Lobby)
Everyone in our community is invited to donate non-perishable food items, toiletries and more to help our neighbors in need. Collect and sort donated items which will be added to our Micro Pantry or distributed to local food pantries. As part of Teen Volunteering Day, we will be collecting and sorting these donations.
