As we continue to stay healthy and safe indoors, Studio 300 is committed to continuing our programming online. Recently I was able to teach Photoshop Basics via Zoom. Patrons had the opportunity to join in and watch as I took them through Photoshop’s environment and tools. It was great to reconnect with our great community and provide programs that allow our patrons to expand their Photoshop knowledge. At the end of each class, I like to share resources that will allow you to continue your learning. The first is Lynda.com, an excellent resource you can access from home with your Fountaindale Library card. Access Lynda directly with this link, or you can find it on our eResources page under the Lifelong Learning category. If you live in our district but don’t have a Fountaindale Library card, apply for a digital card and get started with Lynda.com right away. Below are a couple of classes I strongly suggest to get you started with Photoshop.

YouTube is another excellent resource for watching tutorial videos, following along with a project or trying out a new technique. I recommend these two channels for detailed and consistent content:

  • Tutvid: A great channel that covers many of Adobe’s products, including Photoshop. The content is well-produced and easy to follow.
  • Glyn Dewis: Another channel with well-produced content. He covers a lot of photography principles to help you better understand working with images.

The most important factor, of course, is to have fun! Follow artists on social media, try out new projects and play as you learn. Don’t forget to share your fun projects with us, we are always eager to see the fun ways you apply the knowledge you learn.
