Halloween is about a week away! What are you going to wear trick-or-treating? WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU AREN’T READY? Well, you’re in luck. If you don’t have your costume picked out yet, here are some last minute ideas you can put together with stuff you probably have around the house!
1. Librarian
Okay, it may sound biased, but this costume is easy to pull off and super fun! All you need is a couple of books to hold, a pencil behind the ear and a comfy sweater. Don’t forget the glasses! Dress smart and shush your friends all night long!
2. Breadwinner
Use any medals, trophies or ribbons you may have at home along with a few bags of bread to make yourself a breadwinner! Everyone out trick-or-treating will know who really brings home the bread.
3. Smarty Pants
This one’s easy. All you need is a pair of pants and some Smarties® candy to stick onto them! Dress up the look with a bow tie and a button up shirt or other ‘smarty’ gear. Or just leave them as is!
4. Farmer
Do you own a pair of overalls or maybe a plaid shirt? Then you’re all set to be a farmer this spooky season! Put on some boots and carry around a vegetable of your choice to represent your crops or even a stuffed animal from your barn.
5. Identity Thief
For our last costume, all you need is a bunch of “Hello, My Name Is” stickers and you’re in business. Fill out as many stickers as you want with any name but your own. Then apply them to any outfit you’d like to wear for the night. Add some sunglasses and a dark hoodie for extra thief-like quality.
Hopefully these ideas helped you come up with your perfect costume for next week. Have fun out there and stay safe! And don’t forget to check out the Vortex’s current book display “Vampires, Witches and Werewolves, Oh My!” for all your spooky season reads!
