Winter is the absolute best time to read! Nothing beats cozying up under a warm blanket with delicious coffee (or hot chocolate) and an amazing book. The only thing that could make it better is getting rewarded for your reading.

This winter, we’re offering three different reading challenges for adults, teens and kids so everyone in your family can enjoy the fun. The challenge begins Monday, January 13 and ends Monday, February 24.

Adult Winter Reading (Ages 18 and older)

Read or listen to books or audiobooks for 500 minutes—that’s just 12 minutes a day. Any kind of reading counts! You can win weekly gift cards, and all participants who read at least 500 minutes will be entered into the grand prize drawing.

Teen Winter Reading (Grades 6–12)

Read or listen for 360 minutes (just one hour per week) to earn free books. Be sure to log all your reading—books, eBooks, graphic novels and audiobooks. All participants who read at least 360 minutes will be entered into the grand prize drawing.

Children’s Winter Reading (Ages birth–grade 5)

Challenge yourself this winter, and resolve to read! Pick up a game board from the Children’s Service Desk. Complete challenge activities that allow you to move forward on the game board. You will earn a small prize when you’ve made it halfway. Make it all the way around the game board to get a special completion prize and a voucher for a free book from the Friends Book Cellar.
