Teacher Book Wizard

You don't have to be a teacher to use this site! Start by the selecting the leveling system used in your school: Grade Level, Guided Reading Level (Fountas and Pinnell, which uses letters), the Lexile Framework (mostly 3-digit numbers), DRA, or Reading Recovery. Then choose the type of search you want to do.

  • "Quick Search" lets you enter the name of a book to find out what grades will be interested in it, what reading level it is for, and whether an AR or Scholastic quiz has been written for that title.
  • For a "Leveled Search," you would fill in information about the type of book and the range of reading levels you want. Then the computer will suggest books for you.
  • If you want to find something like the book you just read, choose "BookAlike," enter the name of the book, and slide the marker to get suggestions of books that are at the same reading level, easier, or harder.

The site also has information about how the different reading levels compare to each other and what to do if a book you want to read has not been leveled.
